Developmental Training Services

An important part of the mission of St. Mary of Providence is to provide services that help persons with developmental disabilities reach their highest potential.  Our Developmental Training Services program provides residents and day students with educational and vocational opportunities.  The program is located at Clare Center, a barrier free and wheelchair accessible work activity center.

St. Mary of Providence

The Developmental Training Program was granted a license in 1987 and has grown to encompass residents of Rose Angela Hall and Providence Center, as well as those day students who live in the community.

The Clare Center is licensed to serve 120 people and has been accredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Rehabilitation Services (CARF) at the highest level achievable since 1971.

The program serves persons with varying levels of developmental disabilities and consists of:

  1. Developmental services where the clients learn and develop their skills. Students use their learned skills hands-on in a “real world” environment and in the community.
  2. Vocational services where the client performs a job and earns wages. St. Mary of Providence contracts with companies who subcontract jobs such as small piece assembly, clerical, and computer work.

Other services available to St. Mary of Providence clients in the Developmental Training program include Aquatics, Social Services, Dietary Services, Financial Services, Music Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Medical Services/Nursing, Recreation/Activities, Pastoral Care, Speech and Language Services, Personal Care Services, Vocational Services, Psychological Services and transportation.
